Freedom of Speech

Freedom of Speech is one of our most cherished rights, protected by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. However, numerous recent decisions by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) threaten that freedom in broadcast television and in radio.

WGA member Jonathan Rintels is the Executive Director of the Washington-based Center for Creative Voices in Media, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to “preserving in America's media the original, independent, and diverse creative voices that enrich our nation's culture and safeguard its democracy.” Jonathan and Creative Voices have been leaders on issues of free speech and censorship, as well as many others over the years.
