WGAW Foreign Levies Program
Welcome to the WGAW Foreign Levies website.
Foreign levies are fees collected in some foreign countries to compensate rights holders for the copying, rental and retransmission of their films and television programs. The rights holders under foreign law include the "authors" of motion pictures and television programs.
Users can:
- Search the list of writers' names for whom the Guild is holding foreign levies but lacks payment information.
- Search the list of titles for which the Guild is holding foreign levies but has not identified the writer or lawful heir.
- Provide the Guild with information about a non-WGA title which you believe may entitle you to foreign levies.
In addition to these search functions, these pages provide answers to frequently asked questions about the foreign levies program, as well as information about program history and operation, and the 2010 class action litigation.
If you have questions, contact the Foreign Levies Department or call (323) 782-4725.
