Resources for Addressing Racism
Writers have a mainline into American culture through the content they create. The recent wave of protests in defense of Black lives, and reactions from government, industry, and the public, have called attention both to the entrenched nature of white supremacy and the strength of the movement to dismantle it. Guild members cannot stand on the sidelines of this fight and many have asked how they can do their part, in their personal lives and through their work.
The Guild has provided a list of resources that members can use to further, or begin, their personal anti-racism work. The list borrows from the resources compiled by Sarah Sophie Flicker and Alyssa Klein (Anti-racism resources), Victoria Alexander, MEd. (Anti-Racist Resource Guide), and General Assembly (Why We Should All Be Angry).
These resources include:
- Articles
- Videos
- Media (including podcasts)
- Books
- Films
- Organizations to follow on social media
- Organizations to give to
- Ways to support Black-owned businesses
