Presenters Talent Line-Up Announced for 2016 Writers Guild Awards West Coast Ceremony
LOS ANGELES– An exciting talent line-up is slated to present honors at the 2016 Writers Guild Awards West Coast ceremony to be hosted this Saturday, February 13, at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles.
In addition to this year’s host, acclaimed actor-writer-comedian Patton Oswalt (Veep, Justified), awards ceremony presenters will include: Academy Award-winning actress Geena Davis; Academy Award-nominated actress and Trumbo co-star Diane Lane, Friends co-stars Matt LeBlanc (Episodes) and Courteney Cox (Cougar Town), Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated Better Call Saul star and Emmy-winning writer Bob Odenkirk, Dr. Ken and The Hangover star Ken Jeong, Golden Globe-winning Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star Rachel Bloom, Golden Globe and Emmy-winning Transparent star Jeffrey Tambor, Emmy and WGA-nominated Key & Peele co-star/writer Keegan-Michael Key, The Last Man on Earth co-star and Annie Award-winning actress Kristen Schaal (Gravity Falls), The Carmichael Show co-creator/star Jerrod Carmichael, Oscar and WGA-nominated screenwriter-actress Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding & 2), actor David Koechner (The Goldbergs), Veep co-star Matt Walsh, Silicon Valley co-star Kumail Nanjiani, Oscar and WGA-winning screenwriter Robert Towne (Chinatown, Mad Men), Emmy-winning Lost Co-Creator and WGA-nominated The Leftovers Co-Creator Damon Lindelof, Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick, and WGA/Golden Globe-nominated Jaws screenwriter and Emmy-winning TV writer Carl Gottlieb.
This year’s honorees include: Academy Award-nominated and WGA-winning screenwriter-director-actress Elaine May (Primary Colors, Heaven Can Wait), who will receive the WGAW’s Laurel Award for Screenwriting Achievement; Friends Co-Creators Marta Kauffman (Grace and Frankie) & David Crane (Episodes), who will receive the WGAW’s Paddy Chayefsky Laurel Award for Television Writing Achievement; screenwriter John August (Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), who will receive the Guild’s Valentine Davies Award for his community service and humanitarian efforts; Emmy-nominated TV/screenwriter writer Arthur Sellers (Meet the Raisins!), who will receive the WGAW’s Morgan Cox Award for his Guild service; and WGA-nominated screenwriter John McNamara, who will receive the WGAW’s Paul Selvin Award for his Trumbo screenplay, which embodies the spirit of constitutional rights and civil liberties.
This year’s show is executive produced by Hugh Fink, produced by Decoupage Production’s Tara Power and Joselyn Allen, co-produced by Kelly Brock, directed by Nick Murray, and written by Head Writer Joe O’Brien and writers Fink, Ed Lee, Beth Armogida, Matt Oswalt, and Gerry Duggan, as well as creative consultant Shelly Goldstein.
The WGAW’s Awards Committee includes Guild members Karen Harris (chair), Steve Chivers, Patrick Doody, Shelly Goldstein, and Scott Saltzburg.
The Writers Guild Awards honor outstanding writing in film, television, new media, videogames, news, radio, promotional, and graphic animation categories. Competitive awards will be presented at both the Los Angeles ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza and the New York ceremony at the Edison Ballroom.
